Anxiety!
If you have read any of the Soul Whispering blogs, you will understand that if at all possible I will take the most accessible route to a destination, and this is no different!
So as with all things a brief explanation of stress!
Stress is something that the mind paints a picture of in front of your eyes and then tells you it is a reality, and yes the sensations that arise from this image can be as debilitating as a physical illness.
So do not think for one moment that I am going to gloss over what many experience as a significant impact on their lives.
Now the Practice:
I am going to focus on something that many suffer from, and that is the stress around travel. This explanation to you comes out of watching someone close to us struggle with the process, overthinking to the point of panic.
There are two ways for you to undertake this practice.
1) If you are sitting with another traveller within sight who is calm and relaxed and not stressed, put yourself in their situation and feel what it is like to be this way.
2) If, on the other hand, you are within sight of a traveller who is stressed and not handling the situation well, then again put yourself into their position and extend compassion toward them and how they feel.
Either way, it is experiencing an emotion or idea of being that is not you or how you are feeling at this time.
Please don’t think that the next statement is at all flippant and that I say it lightly, but the mind is creating all of what you are going through and none of it is real, just perceived as real.
The only way to get past this is to get past the mind!
This practice can be applied to anything you do in any place, not just to travel and the more you practice the better you will get out getting past the mind.
This is a helpful tip. I suffered anxiety when I got a digestion problem (IBS-D), once I fixed this and got well it all went away. So I do believe a lot of stress and anxiety is affected by what we eat and how well our gut bacteria are fairing.
Thanks for the comment, and I am glad that you have found a solution to your problem. Obviously as I am not a health care practitioner I cannot make reference to what may or may not assist in this regard, but as a spiritual teacher my interest and attention lies with what makes these things arise in the first place and ultimately how will they cease! Melanie is a healthcare practitioner (Homeopath) and is currently writing an article regarding just these problems on our sister site elementsofhealth.com.au
